I'm glad, but it needs to last us a year, not a week.
Got it.
[He'll catch up to her in the bridge soon enough, with his usual diary in his pocket as he approaches her. Instead of that big question, he reaches out for her hand and intertwines his fingers in hers.] Hey.
[She's sitting in her captain's chair, just drinking come cocoa she got down on Arslae and looking out at the stars. When his fingers weave between hers, she looks up with a warm smile.]
So... remember when I said I'd give you an IOU for your birthday? I might be delivering on that now.
[He had a present in his other hand, which he holds out to her with a grin. It's a big gift bag, with blue tissue paper hiding what's inside. Once she does open it, though, she'll find a purple fur-lined robe that'll nearly touch the ground. Nice and warm, and something that could go over her jumpsuit without too many problems.]
[Alex pulls the robe out of the bag, and her whole face lights up.]
Oh my god, you remembered what I said about pajamas!
[She leaps forward, out of her chair, to throw her arms around his neck - but just as suddenly, she seems to remember something.]
Wait right there-
[And with that, she scurries off to the bunks. It only takes her about thirty seconds to rummage under her bed and return with a small paper bag of her own, which she promptly passes to him. Gauzy white paper sticks out of the top, and inside he'll find two items: a handmade mug, and a painting of the sky over Arslae, which Alex completed in between hacking up her lungs over the past couple of weeks.]
[He doesn't even get a victory hug? Stefan blinks back surprise, staring at the spot where Alex had been and trying to discern what had just happened - was she going to change into them???
Eh, Stefan didn't have to wait long to find out. He peers into the bag, and it's like he's looking at the stars itself as he pulls the painting out.]
Alex.... ["You didn't have to." Setting his new gifts aside, he pulls her into a tight hug.] Thank you.
